Last Chartered Flight of Afghani Refugees Arrives

Sr. Vikramjit Singh Sahney , International President World Punjabi Organisation & Sr. Manjit Singh Sirsa President DSGMC carrying Saroopas of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Jee brought from Afghanistan by last 200 refugees by a charted flight at Delhi.

The last chartered flight carrying 180 Sikh and Hindu families from Afghanistan landed today at Delhi International Airport. Vikramjit Singh Sahney, International President – World Punjabi Organisation, who chartered the flights and made arrangements for evacuating remaining Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan, said that with today’s chartered flight we have completed our programme of evacuating 500 Sikhs and Hindu families who were stranded in Kabul, Jalalabad and Ghazni.
Shri Sahney informed that DSGMC will provide them temporary accommodation and they have set up three quarantine centres at Gurdwara Rakab Ganj, Moti Bagh and Bangla Sahib for these refugees.
Mr. Sahney stated that all these families have been sponsored by various NRI Sikhs in USA, UK, Middle East and Members of World Punjabi Organisation under the programme “MY FAMILY MY RESPONSIBILITY”. He also thanked Dilip Singh Sethi and Paramjit Singh Bedi for spearheading and leading the programme of arranging houses for these refugees, meeting their household expenses for two years including education of children.
Vikramjit S. Sahney announced that his NGO, Sun Foundation will train all the young Afghani Sikhs and Hindus by providing free Skill Training at the newly setup World Class Skill Centre at Jail Road ITI Campus.
Shri Sahney thanked Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi and Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah having already assured that these refugees will be granted permanent residency and Indian citizenship in due course.
