Punjab Flood Relief

Donation of Essential Relief Materials to Alleviate the Impact of Flooding

In a resounding display of commitment to the well-being of his constituents, Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Sun Foundation, International President of WPO took swift action to provide immediate relief to the flood-affected villages of Dudhan Sadhan and Patran in District Patiala.

The relief initiative encompassed a wide range of essential materials aimed at mitigating the hardships faced by the flood-affected residents. More than 500 tarpaulins were distributed to offer protection against the ceaseless rainfall, which had forced people and livestock out of their dwellings.

Recognizing the imminent health risks associated with waterlogging and flooding, Sahney's relief effort included the distribution of medicines such as Dettol and Betadine, crucial in preventing septic allergies and waterborne diseases. The stagnant waters had also created a breeding ground for mosquitoes, further exacerbating the health hazards. As a result, villagers received vital medicines, repellents, and ointments to safeguard their well-being.

In light of the devastating impact on livestock, Sahney extended his support by providing fodder for cattle and other animals severely affected by the inundation.

The relief mission was executed with the dedicated involvement of Sun Foundation and WPO volunteers, who ventured into the remote and severely affected interior areas of these villages. They worked in coordination with the district administration team, led by District Commissioner’s of respective areas to ensure that the relief materials reached those who needed them the most.
