Inauguration of Sun Foundation Skill Centre for Widows, Girls and Women in Vrindavan, Mathura

Yogi Adityanath ji, Hon’ble Chief Minister;  Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Hon’ble Union Minister ; Smt. Rita Bahuguna Joshi, Hon’ble Minister,Govt. of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Hema Malini, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Inaugurated Sun Foundation Skill Centre for Widows, Girls and Women in Vrindavan, Mathura

Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi, Hon’ble Union Minister for Women & Child Development, inaugurated the maiden largest housing & skill centre for the widows and estranged women residing in Krishna Kutir, Vrindavan under Prime Minister’s Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). Headed by Padma Shri Vikramjit S. Sahney, the Skill Centre has been set up by Sun Foundation under the aegis of NSDC.

Aligned with Sun Foundation’s prime project ‘Surya Kiran’, skill training is being provided in the centre in various streams including Sewing Machine Operator; Hand Embroider; Packers etc to empower the widows and destitute women to make them self reliant.

Sun Foundation has been running vocational training centres in Mathura and Agra in Uttar Pradesh besides actively skilling girls, women and youth in various job roles in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab for free training wherein over 10,000 beneficiaries have successfully completed training in various courses.

Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath said ‘we aim to provide right skills to the widows, girls and women in need to inculcate self-confidence and livelihood opportunities so that they can lead a life of dignity.’

Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi also expressed her sentiments that all products whether clothing, packaging or furnishing etc to be created as a brand and flavour of the soil of Vrindavan. This brand would, then, have immense value and extensive purchasing capacity.

“I feel honoured to have been given the opportunity of imparting skill training to these widows which will help them to earn their livelihood and make them self dependent” said Padma Shri Vikramjit S. Sahney.
